I love slings and this seems like the best in the market for it's size. If this bag were about 1 more inch in height and it would fit the ipad perfectly. Note: I can still get it in there but it is forced. Even with my ipad forced in the main pocket it still has enough room to fit all the rest of my essentials, like my camera, phone, wallet, etc. and it still zips up with no issues. Another thing I would like to make note of is that the pocket for the phone will not fit an iphone. Just an FYI for all the apple users out there. I'll probably use that for pocket for cash, chapstick, or something. I love this bag and will use it for a very long time just wish it were a tiny bit bigger. Five out of five stars in my book. The material is strong and sturdy. The zippers are very durable and zip/unzip very smoothly. Both the back portion as well as the shoulder strap have a significant amount of padding, making it manageable to wear for extended periods of time. The interior sleeve and the separate interior mesh compartment (which zips) are great for separating contents.As other reviewers have noted, this is not a standard-size backpack. It's more of a mini backpack. I added a few pics comparing the Patagonia Atom to a standard-size backpack. It's perfect for carrying personal items and belongings, like cameras, phones, e-readers, keys, lotion and make-up, compact notepads, or a couple of tightly rolled t-shirts w/ socks.
